Although excited, I was also somewhat reluctant to begin CrossFit initially. The workouts looked extreme compared to anything I had done in the past. I wasn’t sure I wanted a class environment, as I did not feel confident in working out in front of people I thought would be much stronger. I wasn’t sure if I was capable of completing the workouts and to be honest, in the past I had never stuck with anything for long.
I didn’t feel like I had enough energy to get through my days with school and work without adding anything else in. I was tired initially, and sore- VERY SORE (9 months later I am still sore!) I went to school all day, worked late afternoons and then attended classes in the evenings. In an attempt to be consistent I switched to the 5:30 am class, even though I have never been a morning person. I loved it! The class environment was motivating and helped keep me accountable. When I missed a morning I realized how much more sluggish I felt on the days that I did not get up early and workout. The workouts were such a boost to my day. I feel better and more energetic overall.
Family and friends both commented on the differences they could see in my energy level and my strength. CrossFit has made such a difference in many ways…. I am stronger than I have ever been and know I am more capable than I had previously given myself credit for and I don’t think I would have gotten there without the supportive class environment and the structured plan and encouragement of the coaches.
