I started crossfitting over a year and a half ago at a different location and it was almost instantly life changing for me. When my youngest was 7 months old, I started CrossFit and it was hard. Really hard. I was questioned by some if it was too much too soon, "you've just had a baby" "9 months up, 9 months down" but it was so much more than that. I was a mom to two small babies sixteen months apart, working a full time job with little help and working out became my sanity. Soon, I found myself go from saying "I can't do this" to "I got this." I started to believe in ME again. Instead of filling myself with self doubt, or getting stressed when the going got hard, I found myself pushing through with a determination and resilience I hadn't seen in myself in a long time.
I am blessed with an amazing support system of people in my life that started seeing the differences I was feeling. My boss has been an amazing supporter after seeing how it made me not only healthier but happier. She accommodates me by working with my schedule so that I can make sure to get my daily work out in. My parents have helped me by watching my children or even letting us stay with them during the week so I can make it in the mornings. After hearing me talk about CrossFit relentlessly; my Dad decided to give it a try last Fall.
Not only was it great to see him becoming healthier but it provided a different platform for us to bond on. After several months of him being with me after the different location we decided we were ready to make the move to CrossFit Rockwall. Ever since we started in November; it's clear it was the best decision we could have made for our physical well being. The training, the people, the programming has helped me to continue to grow in ways I didn't know was possible. It is so nice having a sense of encouragement and community every single time I step in the building. My mom has now joined with us making it a family affair. I love the positive example my children are getting to witness by having not only me but their grandparents investing in their own personal health. We do family burpees together now which I am convinced is only fun if you are two and three years old but they love it.
Becoming healthy on the outside became about becoming healthy on the inside. I'm happier and healthier now than I've ever been. I am so thankful for the value it has added to my life which in turn makes me a better mother, employee, & person. The smaller clothes and muscular build are great but what I've gained on the inside and the way becoming healthy has impacted my life makes those benefits just side effects.
Whatever it is, from lifting over 200 lbs, working full time, or dealing with trying 2's & terrible 3's AT THE SAME TIME on my own, I know I can handle whatever life throws at me.
I am so excited to see where my journey at CrossFit Rockwall takes me.
