My Crossfit story starts in early 2012. I was a stay-at-home mom of two small kids, struggling with the monotony of running on the treadmill. I hated it, and I wanted more. I not only wanted to maintain my weight, I wanted to tone. One day, I noticed the box close to the entrance of my neighborhood. I had heard about CrossFit, but I was certain it wasn't for me. I had never lifted weights before, and I certainly couldn't do a pull-up. I decided one day, on a whim, that I would email the box to get more information. Within a matter of days, I was enrolled. I officially joined CrossFit Rockwall in July of 2012 and was almost immediately hooked.
CrossFit became my new routine. Drop the kids off at school, then head to the box. I couldn't believe the results I was getting in such a small amount of time. I was gaining so much strength and developing muscles I never thought I would. Nine months after starting, I did my first unassisted pull-up! Not only was there a major physical transformation, but I was sleeping better and had more energy to keep up with my kids.
Fast forward two years, and I had just delivered my third child after a somewhat difficult pregnancy and an almost six month hiatus from Crossfit. I was struggling to lose the baby weight that had been so easy to lose before, and I was flat out exhausted. I was eating healthy and would "exercise" here and there, but I still wasn't myself and the scale wasn't budging. I made excuse after excuse for almost a year before realizing that I needed to get back into what I knew would work. I was welcomed back at the box with open arms by not only the staff, but the athletes as well. I am finally back into my routine and getting back to my pre-baby self!
Thank you, CrossFit Rockwall, for the encouragement and support you've offered me the last three years. I have not only become a stronger person physically, but mentally as well. I am a better athlete, a better person, a better mother because of CrossFit Rockwall.
